Join TWTP in welcoming Brittney Lipson who is a dedicated lecturer and Ph.D. student at the University of Vermont.
During this workshop interpreters can expect to become more familiar with becoming a PhD student through the eyes of a Black Deaf Woman. We will learn about the Institutional Review Boards (IRB) process to become a PhD student. We will also discuss the barriers that are present within the metrics of the American Sign Language Proficiency Interview (ASLPI). Participants will have the opportunity to practice PhD level instruction.
Educational Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- Compare the difference between undergraduate work and PhD work.
- Recognize the impact the ASLPI has on the Deaf community - specifically non-white communities.
- Practice at least 2 PhD level instructional videos.
- Report on their experience interpreting the practice videos.
