Event Description

Feel like you have a good grasp on your taxes – what qualifies as an expense vs what people say qualifies, how to keep organized, paying estimated payments, and so much more? Maybe you are lost and you cross your fingers every year you (or your preparer) is doing it right and you don’t get audited!

Participants will receive a certificate of attendance. No partial CEUs will be provided.

Educational Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  1. distinguish the difference between reimbursements and expenses.
  2. recognize at least four different expenses interpreters can utilize when filing.
  3. devise a plan using at least one tool template provided to make tax time less stressful
  4. locate how to pay estimated federal taxes

Format

Linda will go over important IRS requirements, definitions, need to knows for your preparers, and more. Xane will provide their examples of keeping track of invoices, agencies, and tax information. Throughout we will also be discussing changes with the IRS in 2026 and what to have prepped for the 2026 filing year. Agenda subject to change

About Our Presenter(s):

Linda (she/they) is the owner and founder of Penny Pinch Tax, LLC. Their journey in tax preparation started over a decade ago with a simple goal: help people feel confident and cared for during tax season. Linda is passionate about educating clients, staying up-to-date on tax laws, and creating a space where people feel welcome and supported — not overwhelmed. When she’s not working, you’ll find them at local community events, napping with her cats, or brainstorming new ways to give back.

Xane Kimber (they/them) is a nationally certified ASL-English interpreter, mentor, presenter, and advocate. They received an associate degree in Sign Language Studies: Interpreter Training from Southwestern Illinois College in 2012. Xane has been a mentor for 10+ years and presented workshops specializing in Queer, 2SLGBTQIA+, and Alternative Life Communities for over 5 years. Their want to heal their “baby interpreter” and grow from past mistakes drove them to open their own organization. In 2023, Xane founded The Willow Tree Project, a non-profit organization, to provide quality and accessible professional development opportunities.
