Educational Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- Discuss how power and privilege in the Deaf community are affected by interpreters’ presence.
- Identify interpreters’ position within the Deaf community with a greater understanding of their impact.
- Immerse themselves in the presenter’s stories to understand the real-life experiences the Deaf community has with interpreting.

Katie Millios
About Our Presenter(s):
Katie Millios is a Certified Deaf Interpreter and Director of Artistic Sign Language. She hails from the DMV (DC/MD/VA) area, and currently travels and works as a freelance interpreter/translator. When it comes to conversations with fellow interpreters, Katie loves to share the good, bad, and ugly of being a Deaf person and a Deaf interpreter. She loves reading, crafting, and long walks to the kitchen for freshly baked goods.

Vancro Integrated Interpreting Services (VIIS) is an approved RID CMP sponsor for Continuing Education Activities. This workshop is offered for # 0.2 CEUs in the Professional Studies, PPO area at the “little to no” Content Knowledge level. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
