Renewal Processes

Missouri Interpreting Licensure and Certification Renewal Process (MCDHH and SCI)

Certification (MCDHH):

  • If you have an Illinois certification and or license (from a MO conversion), do this first. The sooner you do this, the sooner you’ll have proof to update your Illinois information.
  • Certified interpreters are required to print out the renewal application you can find here.

  • You will need to fill out the CEU log and turn in with printed Certificates of Attendance or your RID transcript.
  • If you pay online, you must print the receipt and send it with your other documentation.

  • Renewal forms must be postmarked to MCDHH by December 2nd. December 15th is the expiration date for your certification.

Licensure (SCI): – do this one last

  • Before you apply for a new license or renew a license, you must first create a new login credential in MOPRO Portal.

  • You will receive an email (interpreters@pr.mo.gov) on November 1st to go into the portal and renew online.
    • You cannot renew before Nov 1st.
      • Renewing online you’ll need to go to the link provided in the email.
      • Your username is an email.

  • Licensure expires January 31st.

  • You can check your licensure expiration date here.

Illinois Interpreting Licensure and Certification Renewal Process (IDHHC)

Note: If you have your Missouri credentials, do Illinois after you receive the new Missouri certification.

Certification:

  • If you have a license, your certification will automatically renew in December with your license renewal. If you do not have a license, this will need to be renewed every March.

  • A maintenance form will be sent out 30 days before the certification expiration date: March 1st.

Licensure:

  • Notification via email on November 1st about renewals.
    • If you did not receive one – you may go here to get signed in.

  • Your license must be processed and approved BY December 31st for you to stay current and legal to interpret in Illinois.
    • IDHHC strongly encourages all renewal applications be submitted no later than December 10 every year.

  • Update your profile or renew, view, and download your license here using a username.

  • After you renew, check your status here to make sure you are approved by December 31st.
