Missouri Interpreting Licensure and Certification Renewal Process (MCDHH and SCI)
Certification (MCDHH):
- If you have an Illinois certification and or license (from a MO conversion), do this first. The sooner you do this, the sooner you’ll have proof to update your Illinois information.
- Certified interpreters are required to print out the renewal application you can find here.
- You will need to fill out the CEU log and turn in with printed Certificates of Attendance or your RID transcript.
- Check how many CEUs you need on MCDHH’s website under “Requirements”

- If you pay online, you must print the receipt and send it with your other documentation.
- Renewal forms must be postmarked to MCDHH by December 2nd. December 15th is the expiration date for your certification.
- If your certification expires, you must fill out a reinstatement form.
Licensure (SCI): – do this one last
- Before you apply for a new license or renew a license, you must first create a new login credential in MOPRO Portal.
- You will receive an email (interpreters@pr.mo.gov) on November 1st to go into the portal and renew online.
- You cannot renew before Nov 1st.
- Renewing online you’ll need to go to the link provided in the email.
- Your username is an email.
- You cannot renew before Nov 1st.
- Licensure expires January 31st.

Illinois Interpreting Licensure and Certification Renewal Process (IDHHC)
Note: If you have your Missouri credentials, do Illinois after you receive the new Missouri certification.
Certification:
- If you have a license, your certification will automatically renew in December with your license renewal. If you do not have a license, this will need to be renewed every March.
- A maintenance form will be sent out 30 days before the certification expiration date: March 1st.
Licensure:
- Notification via email on November 1st about renewals.

- Your license must be processed and approved BY December 31st for you to stay current and legal to interpret in Illinois.
- IDHHC strongly encourages all renewal applications be submitted no later than December 10 every year.

- After you renew, check your status here to make sure you are approved by December 31st.
Continuing Education Requirements
- CEU Cycle is January 1 to December 31.
- If one earns MORE than the required 2.0 CEUs in one year but fails to earn 2.0 CEUs in the following year, a maximum of 1.0 CEU may be carried over into the following year.
- CEU cycle is November 3rd and ends November 2nd.
- Check partial year certification requirements here.
- CEUs earned after the cycle requires a late fee.
Illinois and Missouri:
- Require 2.0 CEUs (20 hours)
- 0.3 CEUs (3 hours) of those CEUs must be on the topic of ethics.
